Right of Withdrawal for Consumers

1. Right of Withdrawal

As a consumer within the meaning of § 13 BGB (German Civil Code), you have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.

The withdrawal period is 14 days from the date on which the contract was concluded (payment completion for paid orders or acceptance of a zero-price order).

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us of your decision to withdraw from this contract by means of a clear statement (e.g., a letter sent by post or email). You may use the model withdrawal form below, although this is not mandatory.

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send notice of your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

2. Early Performance and Loss of the Right of Withdrawal

Our document analysis and editing orders are treated as services. For paid services, your right of withdrawal expires only after full performance if, before performance starts, you expressly consent to an early start and acknowledge loss of the right on full performance (Section 356(5) BGB). Payment, a processing start, or delivery alone does not establish these conditions.

The checkout has a separate, initially unticked checkbox recording this request and acknowledgment. We send you a contract confirmation with the consent record and these instructions before starting performance.

A zero-price service, where a statutory withdrawal right applies, ends that right on full performance under Section 356(5)(1) BGB. We still request your separate early-performance consent.

Non-physical digital content has a different rule under Section 356(6) BGB: for paid content, loss on commencement requires prior express consent, acknowledgment of loss on commencement, and a contract confirmation under Section 312f BGB. We do not rely on that commencement rule for these service orders.

3. Consequences of Withdrawal

If you validly withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse all payments received without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we are informed of your decision. The reimbursement will be made using the same payment method you used for the original transaction, unless expressly agreed otherwise. No fees will be charged for this reimbursement.

If you expressly requested performance during the withdrawal period and were properly informed as required by law, you must pay a proportionate amount for the service performed up to your withdrawal, compared with full performance of the contract (Section 357a(2) BGB). No compensation is owed for a zero-price service; no compensation for digital content is owed under Section 357a(3) BGB.

4. Exclusion of Right of Withdrawal for Business Customers

The right of withdrawal applies only to consumers acting outside their trade, business, or profession. Business customers (§ 14 BGB) do not have a statutory right of withdrawal.
