How to Count Characters in Your Document
Each major writing application shows character count in a slightly different location.
Microsoft Word
Go to Review → Word Count. In the dialog, look for Characters (with spaces). Divide by 1,800 for your standard page count.
Google Docs
Go to Tools → Word count or press Ctrl+Shift+C. The dialog shows characters with spaces — the value you need.
LibreOffice Writer
Go to Tools → Word Count. Use the Characters (with spaces) value. You can also enable the status bar at the bottom for a permanent character count display.
